Business Planner’s RoadMap: Chart Your Path
One thing you can do immediately to lighten your workload is to use technology. The fact that you’re logged into this membership site all but eliminates the need to dwell much on this Step – as you have likely already pointed yourself toward the ‘high tech’ option.
Action
Decide whether you will use low tech, high tech or a combination of the two and gather together the tools you will need to complete your business plan. There are essentially three options for this task.
- Low Tech: The low tech path would be to complete the tasks using a couple of lined notebooks, spare paper, a pencil, an eraser and a calculator. Although hand-written business plans were acceptible in the past, I would not recommend that route now.
- High Tech: This path will require that you prepare yourself with the items listed above and a computer with Microsoft Office™ or equivalent software, a printer, Internet, email capability and the RiskBuster Business Planner™ (including the Shell™, the Biz4Caster™ and sample business plans).
- Both Low and High Tech: You may find that you prefer to carry out certain parts of your process using low tech and others using high tech.
Most of your business planning needs will be met by using a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a Web browser. If you don’t own these applications, free downloadable open-source options are available that will work just fine.
