Q: In what situations is including a map ideal?
The key to deciding whether to provide a map as part of your business plan is to consider who will be reading it. The question to ask is, “Will a map help communicate to the reader?” With that in mind, maps could be useful for the following business situations:
• Where the business plan will be sent off to a far away location, when it would be helpful for those reading the plan to understand where the business is located
• Where the business is built around a geographically significant structure (a forest license, an agriculture lease, a waterway)
• Where environmental impacts are of importance
• In an urban setting where many competitors exist and where location is important to making the business case
